Meet Petra
Director / Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Petra (she/they). A bit about me! I’m a Psychotherapist with a Bachelor degree in Counselling & Integrative Psychotherapy, and am a queer and neurodivergent human who has lived in Melbourne for ten years. I grew up in the British countryside surrounded by nature and horses, which is a passion I am so grateful to have developed through my mum, who got me my first pony, a mini shetland named Dinky, when I was 2 years old.
I have lived experience with trauma, AuDHD and PMDD, and am immensely passionate about assisting other women and folk in the LGBTQ+ community who experience struggles associated with these experiences. I believe that we are made to exist within social and societal norms that were not created for us, and sometimes that can cause a lot of shame and feelings like something is “wrong” with us - when it absolutely is not. My goal is therefore to help everyone develop more feelings of safety within themselves, and learn tools to help develop resilience and self-acceptance, leading to growth, in a world that can make this hard, whilst celebrating the incredible uniqueness of each person.
In a trauma-sensitive and strengths-based manner, I additionally work with attachment disturbances in adults, relational struggles, grief & loss, anxiety, depression, stress management, and psychosexual issues, offering a non-judgmental, sex-positive, queer-affirming and neuro-affirming space to explore clients’ struggles. I offer Telehealth Psychotherapy to adults via Zoom, implementing the wisdom & spaciousness I derive from my time with horses and in nature into our sessions, which are designed around radical acceptance for where - and who - you are in the present moment.
I offer Equine Therapy to children (age 6+) and adults, can bill through NDIS for all self-managed and plan-managed participants with all sessions tailored to suit the individual and age range. Please see HERE for more information on equine-assisted therapy and learning.
Working with horses, immersed in the soothing colours and sounds of nature, can teach us new and amazing ways to listen to ourselves, others, and gain a deeper understanding and acceptance around how we show up in the world.
Whether you're facing loss, transition, trauma, or simply seeking to understand yourself more deeply, my aim is to offer a steady, compassionate space to explore life’s big questions, honouring both your individuality and our shared human experience.
